MTConnect is the perfect protocol to integrate CNC’s with production management applications and data analytics tools, it features an Adapter software piece which streams raw Data/Tags values and another piece of software which is an Agent to format the raw data provided by the Adapter software piece,
Machines with Windows HMI/Controllers such as the Siemens’s SINUMERIK, the MTConnect Adapter & Agent could be installed on the same machine, Example: Liechti CNC, Okuma CNC.
For Linux based machines such as Haas CNC or Hermle CNC, a separate Windows PC/Server on the same network could host the MTConnect Adapter & Agent and act as a middle-ware server between the CNC’s and an OPC Server supporting an MTConnect protocol,
